Giddy Up!

That's right.. I have gone ahead and pulled out the fluff for Tyler!

It's actually a lot easier to cloth diaper a breastfed only baby than a toddler (which Madison was when I started).  You can just throw the whole thing in the wash.  Could he be any cuter?  :)

Sunflower

Madison, do you want to get your picture taken by mommy?

Oh.. you'll only pose if you get a sucker?

Well.. look here at the camera and smile then I'll go get you one...

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!

What's that?  You don't like this color?  ARRRRGGGG  (She's great at poking out her lip.  Jason says she gets that from me.)

Happiness...

Madison looked too cute in this oldie but goodie outfit.  She quickly ate her sucker and then I followed her around snapping photos.

She LOVES to go check out our dogs in the backyard.

Crazy post nap wind blown hair!

FINALLY...

This photo was taken by Uppercase Photography for Madison's three month portriats!

Last Few Mornings Alone with Baby Tyler

That is what Madison calls him.. "Baby Tyler" or "My Baby."  This week is her last week at mom's morning out until the fall so Tyler and I took another moment for a little photo session.

I got his little monogrammed romper in the mail yesterday.  It's just too precious.  I secretly hoped he needed an outfit change and when that didn't happen I almost put him to bed in it.  :)  He's just started sleeping through the night.  (aka. almost 12 hours.  Whoever said "sleeping through the night" is six hours is crazy!)

Dress Up

Madison just received this costume for dress up and as soon as she got it on she wanted to see herself.  We put her on the chest so she could get a look in the mirror.  I got a lot of photos of her smiling at herself.  However, this one is my favorite... there's something about that look.

Chubby Cheeks

When I first had Madison I was getting use to being a stay at home mom and tried to come up with activities for myself.  She got her picture taken a LOT.  My family got a daily e-mail with a picture of her.  (This was before I had a blog).  Now that I have the hang of this SAHM thing I have plenty of activities and I often forget to slow down and capture my sweet baby boy.  So while Madison was at preschool today I slowed down.

I know this is going to go by so fast.

While we were taking photos Madison was learning all about camping at school.  When I picked her up her teacher handed me a s'more wrapped in tin foil...no, really she did.  Thank you Mrs. Nancy.  I had to give her a bite before I could get us out of the parking lot quietly.  AND I had to promise that she could have it when we got home.

...she did.

I can just see that we are way past nap by looking at those eyes.  I do bend the rules.. sometimes.

Where was Charli the dog you might wonder?

This happens a lot.. I'm actually thankful for the help. Thank you Charli.

Potty Training

I started cloth diapering Madison after she turned one. I had planned to stick to gender neutral colors just in case our second baby was a boy.  I own TWELVE girl diapers... TWELVE.  I'm not really sure how that happened, but I'm certain it had to do with the cute factor.

I would love to say that I am currently still using cloth diapers on Madison, but I switched back to disposables right after we moved due to hard water.  Once we got our water softener installed Tyler was born and it just hasn't happened.  I hope to switch Tyler over once Madison is potty trained.

Madison understands and will use the potty, but on her terms only and that scares me.  One day she might want to use it for an M&M and the next day she won't use it for all the candy in the world... much less just because.  I've heard if you wait long enough they will train themselves.  I've also heard that if you wait too long it becomes a battle of the wills.  I've read that diapers can be a hard habit to break... "Is it easier to quit smoking after three weeks or after ten years?"  This is an actual quote from a potty training book I purchased.

So.. I bought a few cloth training pants.  My pick after asking a friend (thanks Katie) and doing some on-line research are Imse Vimse.  I got these because they are soft inside and out, but have a PUL liner in between.  It should catch one full accident.

I also plan to pick up a few simple Gerber ones for home where I want things to run down her legs!

UPDATE:  I wrote this post last week and never got around to posting.  I bought the Gerber training pants yesterday and some princess underwear Madison picked out.  (I'm still waiting on the Imse Vimse to arrive.) I also let her pick out one toy as a big treat.  I had planned to wait, but we were both excited to get started.

Here is how it went...  We came home and she wanted her toy. (Never mind that she asked for it the entire ride home).  I told her that if she used the potty she could have it.  (In my mind I meant if she used the potty consistently for a day or two).  Immediately she said she had to potty.  AND ... she did!  She finished up, washed her hands, and ran into the kitchen where her toy treat was on top of the fridge.  She said "I want my woofies" .. translation - I want my "Littlest Pet Shop."  I tried to explain that she needed to go several times... HA HA HA.  She fell out on the floor into a complete tantrum.  Lets be fair she did what I told her to do so I opened it up and gave her a few of the pieces.  I told her she could get the rest when she went again.  She fell out on the floor.  I held strong and told her no.  I got her underwear out and she got excited.  I put them on and she went about her business playing with her toy and drinking juice.  She then proceeded to pee everywhere AND she didn't say a thing about it.  She just kept on playing.  I expected her to flip out.  SO I told her that pee pee goes in the potty.  I grabbed a pair of the princess underwear thinking she wouldn't want to get those messy.  She peed again within a few minutes and again she didn't care.  She was ready to put on the next pair.  "THE PURPLE ONES MAMMA!!!" .. wait.. "NO, THE RED ONES... YEAH!!"

So.. I grabbed the closest diaper and put it on her.  This is going to be a lot harder than I anticipated.

Making Use

Almost exactly one year ago Madison was wearing this same outfit.  Last year it was a dress and this year it's a top and bloomers.  Girls clothes are great like that.  I'm thinking it won't be so easy for a boy!

Oh how they grow so fast...

Speaking of growing fast...

Tyler weighed 14 lbs at his 2 month check up last week.  He is in the 95th percentile for weight..

and 50th for length!

I'm so proud!

Weekend

Saturday night we had some new friends over for a cookout.  My dad and her dad use to work together in Georgia.  One morning her dad went by to see my dad at his office there and they realized that we both now live here in Round Rock.  So they did what any good dads would do and set us up!  We live within a few miles of each other and have a great time together.  I had every intention of chronicling my meal, but with two small babies it just didn't happen.  I did manage to get a "before" of the homemade Macaroni and Cheese.  I also made Baked Beans from the Pironeer Woman's recipes.  Mine turned out a little runny, but they were still "the Best Baked Beans Ever."  I also made Sangria for the first time.  I was worried that it wouldn't be that good because the recipe seemed too simple compared to others I found.  (The name of the recipe is "Simple Sangria"... HEE HEE!)  I will make it again.  Jason grilled burgers and we were set.

We have a new tradition on Sunday evenings.  We joined a new gym that has an amazing pool.

We go after Madison gets up from her nap.  Tyler and I park ourselves in the shade... (he takes a little snooze while I catch up on important reading like what tore Jake and Vienna apart or which star looked better in the same dress).

Jason and Madison hit the pool...

Madison does like to come out every once in a while for a snack...

and some R&R.
